Hi, pre-ordered this yesterday and have spent a good few hours testing the beta and enjoying the experience and obviously bug reports will be submitted. However I have a problem that probably has an easy answer regarding troops in my city.

Normally, after creating some peasants/troops I can click on my City and then highlight who I want to move out and press the small arrow on the circle above their small avatar. They would then move out of the city ready for orders or grouping, however after I complete a mission that requires me to take a rescued person back to my city my army/troops refuse to move back out!! .. so what do I need to do do that will enable me to move my army/Sov/troops back out into the world as they simply wont budge ?

thanks in advance,

I found a similar problem in that once I had soldiers and my city was at a certain level, the soldiers would get stuck.

They wouldn't be able to move out because there were buildings in the way.

I believe we should be able to have our own troops (and/or allies troops) be able to move over our own cities to be able to move beyond them.

I found this to be a huge problem to gameplay, and possibly needs to be addressed in this beta, unless there is something I too am missing.

Again I will plug that the cities are too large for scale.... Reduce the size of the cities, and bring them in to a realistic scale (ie. make the large squares divided into 9 instead of 4, or scale the cities down by 1/4).  Perhaps then we might have less blocking as well.

At the moment there's a problem with huge cities : some units don't have anogh movement points to get out of the city. If at the end of their movement a unit is standing on a city tile, then it automatically enters the city.

Devs are already looking into that, but BoogieBac said it is a more difficult task than it seems.

A trick I have found and currently use is clicking on the city.

Click the little silver sheild near the center portrait.

Select a Unit and hit Eject.

This should move the unit outside. (There's more, wait for it)

Then take the ejected unit and move it to a differnet square. (very important)

then click on the city and repeat the process for every single unit one at a time.

It can take forever but generally works.

Easy solution, scrap the planet-like behaviour they've taken from GalCiv2. It's counterintuitive and a big hassle for troop movement around and in cities.

Instead they should use the rules used in the Civ games for moving stuff in and out of cities. I.e. you can just move your units as normal through cities (normal tile movement) and you would use the Fortify (F) command to garrison units inside a city.

I personally can't see any advantage in the current system, it's clunky, very unintuitive on the cloth map, but perhaps I'm missing something?

thank you for the replies, it sounds like a bug thats easily fixed then.

Yes agreed this is one time the CIV system is actually decent is with fortification of units in cities then we can also apply that to fortresses or area's etc. and encampment.

Yes I think though the idea of Fortification goes back to Warlords.

Don't ask me how long I wasted on that game.  One time spent 48hours straight on it.... Obsessive perhaps?

That, Sir, was hardly time wasted!!!
